A retired Professor of Health Informatics and a seasoned author, Egondu Onyejekwe comes with a diverse and impactful career. She brings a lifetime of multidisciplinary expertise and personal resilience to the pages of her work. With a career that spans academia, global health consulting, and authorship, she is known for blending rigorous scholarship with heartfelt storytelling.
Egondu’s professional journey includes years as an Associate Editor and serving for several years at the Springer Editorial Board for prominent and different peer-reviewed journals, as well as serving as the Chief Editor of a published textbook. Her expertise extends to the global stage, having consulted with the World Health Organization (WHO) Health Metrics Network System for several years. She has thus contributed significantly to the dissemination of knowledge in the health sector.
Dr. Onyejekwe’s academic accomplishments are equally expansive and remarkably comprehensive, encompassing six degrees in fields as varied as Zoology, Human Biology & Parasitology, Health Education, Public Health Administration, Communications & Information Systems, and Systems Engineering. This unique blend of knowledge has proven invaluable in her role as an author, an academician, and a health administrator.
But her most profound credential is, in her journey and lived experience as a breast cancer survivor! As a three-plus-year breast cancer survivor, Egondu has transformed her personal health journey into a mission of empowerment. Her latest work — the Hope Blooms series — reflects this fusion of science, empathy, and resilience, offering a compassionate roadmap for those navigating breast cancer and life beyond.
Her writing is informed by both her extensive academic and professional experience and her lived experience. As the author of the “Hope Blooms” series, she brings a unique perspective to the narratives of resilience and healing, offering readers a blend of informed insight and heartfelt understanding.
When she’s not writing or speaking at events like the LA Festival of Books, Egondu advocates for global health equity and knowledge-sharing through her different platforms including, Egondu Global LLC.
